Exploring the Imaginal Realms

Are we all just irrelevant specs? Does our life actually have meaning? In this interview with the goop podcast, Cynthia Bourgeault discusses her book Eye of the Heart which investigates the mystical depths of the imaginal realm—an energetic realm well known to the mystical traditions but often forgotten in our own times. Though invisible to the physical eye, it is clearly perceptible via the eye of the heart. Cynthia offers a succinct and helpful tour of the realms in this compelling listen. Listen here.

Seeing With the Eye of the Heart

In this classic interview with Renate McNay of Conscious TV, Cynthia talks about how we open to the heart and how we live from the place of love. Cynthia discusses her “choiceless choice” in becoming a Christian and her first experiences of her own heart being expanded through taking the Eucharist. Cynthia also discusses her introduction in Gurdjieff work and her love of the Gurdjieff movements. The interview ends with a 5-minute guided Centering Prayer meditation led by Cynthia. Listen here.

Mapmaker for the Soul

In this podcast with Elise Loehen, Cynthia talks about the dissolution of the world and the new states of consciousness we are being invited into. Cynthia pulls on the threads of Gurdjieff, the Imaginal Realms, the differences between an Evolutionary and Involutionary path, and where the fruits of Centering Prayer lie. Loehnen notes that Cynthia deftly creates a map for us, creating context for how we traverse life as we remember the preciousness of being human. Listen here.

The Alchemy of Love

Cynthia and A.H. Almaas join Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo of SAND in this talk about the power and alchemy that is possible with Love. This talk explores what nondual love is and how this kind of love is a movement between two points that then transcends the two points. From this perspective Cynthia and A.H. Almaas explore how love expands into diversity with spaciousness and the transfiguration of love. Cynthia claims love as our birthright, and says that we can return to this knowing even amidst loss and pain. Listen here.

Working in the Realms With Humility

In this wide-ranging interview with Rich Archer of the Buddha at the Gas Pump podcast, Cynthia speaks to themes from her book Eye of the Heart and on the challenges of navigating life in the Imaginal Realms. She makes the point that humility in this subtle work is key. We are meant to make a “laboratory of our lives” in this spiritual science of transformation, thus mess-ups, suffering, confusion, and forgiveness will all be part of the experiment. Yet, Cynthia reminds us that Help is always flowing to us of its own volition. Listen here.

Evil From a Wisdom Perspective

In this interview, Cynthia speaks with Wisdom guides Jeanine Siler Jones and Heather Ruce on the topic of evil from a Wisdom Perspective and why she felt drawn to teach on this topic in 2023. Because of the challenging nature of this content, Wisdom Waypoints wanted to offer this conversation to create context for this potent and meaningful exploration. Due to the complexity of this content, we trust that as you begin to engage with the teaching you will seek any support you need, knowing that, as Cynthia says, we already are tethered to an umbilical cord of protective, grounding Love. Listen here.

Why Gebser? Wisdom From the Future

In this warm conversation, Marcella Kraybill-Greggo of Wisdom Waypoints interviews Cynthia Bourgeault on where her emphasis on Jean Gebser has arrived from. In answer, Cynthia reminds us that Wisdom always flows to us from the future; it originates from the same wellspring or center, but sometimes we call it the future because it hasn’t downloaded yet. Thus, Gebser arrived from the future right as we were prepared and ready to receive it. Gebser, Cynthia says, is a “magisterial” thinker and a deeply needed voice in the Wisdom lexicon. She encourages us, if called, to pick up Gebser as part of our “cosmic task.” Listen here.

Christian Contemplation

In this classic interview between Cynthia and Father Thomas Keating they explore the history of Christian contemplation, looking at how it resurfaced in the 1950’s. Father Keating shares his experience as a monk and how the teachings came into this life. Cynthia and Father Keating then discuss how Centering Prayer came to be through interspiritual transfusion, the relationship between Transcendental Meditation (TM) and Centering Prayer. The two also explore how our humanity calls us into sitting in silence. Listen here.
