Gurdjieff Movements Series with Henry Schoenfield

The Gurdjieff Movements are, in one way, sacred exercises that can open us to a finer perceptivity when approached with our three centers working together. In another way, they can lead us to the edge of what we are capable of holding in awareness — allowing us the opportunity to see ourselves and our habitual ways of thinking, feeling, and moving in action.

Working with the movements is about much more than learning the outer form. The movements function like a mirror, helping us to see the work that is ours to take up — work with ourselves, work with each other in a group, and work that is at service of the whole.

Engaging with this practice in an online format calls for a particular quality of preparation and attention. In this way, the movements are a powerful practice to help us find Presence — help us to be aware of when we lose Presence, and help us to return — over and over and over again.

This online class will meet from 12:30-1:45 PM Eastern Time for a total of six times on the following Mondays: September 14, 21, 28; October 5, 12, 19. All classes will be recorded with the recordings made available to participants for their use only.

Work on the form outside of class is not required or even suggested. The class itself is a laboratory — a living encounter with all of our parts, and with all of one another’s parts, as together we strive for something higher.
