Join Benjamin Thomas and Jonathan Steele Tuesday evenings at 6 pm as, together with you, they embark on exploring this notion of personhood as a vehicle for animating the Body of Christ.
The relational field of exchange between human beings and the Divine is real. Throughout scripture, canonical and extra-canonical, one truth is consistently sustained: Unity, as inter-abiding subject-to-subject knowing, exists within diversity. From the weaving thread of Trinitarian metaphysics to the writings of St. Paul, we hear this invitation for two to become one without losing their distinctiveness. As Kabir Helminski writes, “Two stones cannot occupy the same space but two fragrances can.”
This is the context we will be engaging with as we work within this holy feedback loop between the particularities of ourselves and God and God with every living thing.
The aim of this 6-week course is to allow the mystical writings of the beloved poet Rumi to permeate our time together, revealing themselves as the archetypal and causal vehicle for the arising of communal personhood itself. Like Jesus, Rumi lived from an energetic field of phenomenological exchange where he knew his identity not only mattered but grew the entangled cosmic Soul.
With rich support from the Christian Wisdom tradition we will be rediscovering the following traditional theological themes from the mystical level: Personhood; The Western Path of Christain Spirituality; Worlds Within Worlds; The Human Being as Possibility; The Kingdom of Heaven and Human Purpose; and The Body of Christ.
Tuesdays at 6 – 7:30pm ET October 11 – November 15
