“In my Father’s house are many mansions,” Jesus once famously said. Gurdjieff’s version of this perennial mystical notion is the Ray of Creation, a vast ensemble of spiritual and physical “worlds,” each with its own unique spiritual properties and responsibilities, joined together in a continuous dance of mutual exchange and bootstrapping. Collectively they not only manifest but actually comprise the hidden heart of God.
In this bold new teaching, mystical master Cynthia Bourgeault lays before us the dazzling invitation to stretch our visionary wingspan, grow beyond our limited, earthbound perspective and claim the entire Ray of Creation as our home—not for our own self-aggrandizement, but in order to fully participate in the cosmic exchange in which lies our own deepest human meaning and purpose. She will examine in particular the crucial cosmic “shock point” on which our human task is situated—between the “mi” of World 48, our familiar human realm, and the “fa” of world 24, the beginning of the higher spiritual realms, and consider practical pathways toward stabilizing our selfhood in this higher realm so as to become full players in the ever-renewing dance of divine blessing and plenitude that flow to us along the entire Ray of Creation.
Join Cynthia Bourgeault at the Claymont Retreat Center in Charles Town, West Virginia from October 28 to November 2 to work with this newest teaching. While there are no formal prerequisites for this seminar, it is highly recommended that you have some prior familiarity with the Gurdjieff teaching and with Cynthia’s own work in this subject, particularly Eye of the Heart. This will be a Wisdom School format, including meditation, Gurdjieff movements and Exercises, and Practical Work. The Wisdom School will incorporate within its structure two significant liturgical commemorations: the anniversary of the passing from this realm of G.I. Gurdjieff (October 29) and All Saints Day (November 1): both arguably cosmic “thin places” which will frame both the backdrop and the spirit of our work together.
