“An Unlikely Advent Story” – A Virtual Wisdom Program with Bill Redfield

November 28, 2021 - December 24, 2021

Holly

How many years have we traveled on this circle of life, thinking, as we come to December and the season of Advent, that we should be able to get more out of it? How many seasons have we lost ourselves to the busy-ness of the Advent and the pre-Christmas period, only to arrive at Christmas sensing that we’ve just been washed up on a tinseled shore without ever experiencing the deeper waters? How many years has our marking of the Christmas season and the birth of Christ been as superficial as the commercialized version of the season that our advertising industry gives us? Alas, no amount of sentimentality seems to be able to get us where we most want to go…

Can something different be possible for us…? My hope is that it can and that it will. But in order for things to be different, there must be a change—not a quantitative change, but a qualitative change. Indeed, I believe something very different is required of us.

It will probably come as no surprise to you that this will not be your ordinary Advent retreat. We will be encountering more than just the traditional Advent themes that position themselves around Jesus’ birth. In fact, it may seem like we will be turning things completely around and inside out by starting with some human remains found in the Maine woods. Indeed, you may, in a confusing moment, think that you have mistakenly run into a “true crimes” podcast. But I hope you will hang in there with me. I think we will be discovering the birth of love in a most unusual way and in the grimmest of circumstances. But if we are able to find it here, maybe, then, we will be able to find anywhere and everywhere.

During Advent—beginning on Sunday, November 28 and running through Sunday, December 19—there will be weekly recordings of about 45 minutes.

Again, I will utilize the Friday Zoom groups to deepen integration and to foster community. Meeting on Fridays at 9 am (Eastern) or 3 pm (Eastern), these gatherings are completely optional and will commence on Friday, December and run through Friday, December 24. Usually, we will spend most of the 75 minutes in small breakout groups of three, addressing specific reflection questions. Participation is always welcomed, but consistent attendance is not required.

I have found the use of audio recordings to convey the teachings to be far more effective than the usual E-course format. There seems to be something about the vibratory resonance that calls forth the heart and the body, and not just the intellectual mind. Music is utilized not to sentimentalize the experience, but to deepen the vibratory intensity.

All the orienting information and recordings will be available on a password protected page on my website for your continued access. This provides a container for our work that will provide safety and respect.

Fee. This program is by donation. If you would like, I encourage you to donate at the end of the program. Rather than regarding this as a “fee” or “price” for the program “up front,” I would much prefer your donation be part of your response to its entirety and come at its conclusion. This program is my gift to you; your donation could represent your gift back to me. Donation instructions can be found on the signup page.
