Welcome to our NEW website!

We’re NEW in two ways. First, NEW is the acronym for Northeast Wisdom, the organization that a number of us have been slowly birthing over these past two years to serve the needs of a growing network of wisdom students in the New England and Mid-Atlantic region. Second, we are literally the new website on the block, formally launching on April 21 to honor the birthday of our founding benefactor Helen Daly.

If you’ve been following my teaching around North America, you’ll know that the various regions (Wisdom Southwest, Wisdom Southeast, Pacific Northwest, House of Prayer in Minnesota, and The Contemplative Society in British Columbia) have very different flavors and a different sense of ministry and mission. Here in the Northeast we intend to take advantage of our relatively compact geographical area, plus the local presence of teachers Bill Redfield, Lois Barton, Matthew Wright, and myself, to put our primary emphasis on developing strong local and regional teaching and practice circles. You’ll see that emphasis reflected in our new website. While you’ll be able to noodle your way around to locate my master worldwide teaching calendar here, the major focus here is on our quarterly practice circles at Hallelujah Farm in New Hampshire, and our larger semi-annual residential retreats at Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham, MA (and beginning in 2016, at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY). We also have provided a page dedicated to “Practice Circles,” where we hope to post news and contact information for local groups and projects, so as to bring as many of you “hands on” onboard as possible.

We invite you to spend time exploring our new NEW website, discovering how the pieces fit together to serve your ongoing Wisdom formation. Matthew Wright, Bill Redfield, and I will be offering regular commentary and teaching via our blogposts, and we hope that the feedback is spirited! You’ll find information on upcoming local and regional events, particular the quarterly practice circles at Hallelujah farm, our small gem of a Wisdom Center in Chesterfield, New Hampshire. You’ll also find an extensive resource section, including books, audio and video formats, and e-courses. And you’ll find updates and additional resources for specific themes and study projects, including our current Teilhard de Chardin project. There’s even a page where you can donate to this work — and yes, donations are tax-deductible! Your contributions will help support our teachers, provide scholarships for Wisdom events, and help us continue to build our infrastructure.

Northeast Wisdom has been a gleam in our eyes for a long, long time. Now at last it’s a reality. Welcome aboard our new website, and may it be a useful and friendly gateway into the great wide world of Wisdom.

  1. Congratulations on your lovely new website! It would be nice to have a way to subscribe to receive blog posts via email.

  2. Cynthia, I’m thrilled to see you have on your calendar Teilhard de Chardin for 2016 in Santa Barbara, I’ve saved the date. I haven’t noodled my way around this site completely, but I like what I’ve seen so far, and will return regularly.

    1. Hi Freda

Thanks to be the first to respond! My hope is for this to be a really informative information-sharing community, and you’ve launched us all over that precipice. Yes, the Teilhard teaching will premier at SB next year. Stay tuned. Cynthia
